BASILICA OF ST. NICHOLAS OF TOLENTINO
St. Nicholas was born in Sant'Angelo in Pontano, in the province of Macerata, in 1275 he was sent to Tolentino where he died in 1305 at age 60.
In 1325 John XXII index a canonization process ended a century later by Pope Eugene IV.
The Basilica was built between 1200 and 1300 with a beautiful facade with flowery Gothic and sculptures of St. Augustine, the Madonna and Child with St. Nicholas of Tolentino.
On the south side there is the cloister of the 1300 original.
The part of the greatest artistic value is certainly the "Chapel" with its frescoes painted in 1300 by Pietro da Rimini, a member of the Rimini Giotto school.
